Wikus Barkhuizen (PhD student)

Wikus began his PhD studentship in the GEL lab in October 2016 under the supervision of Dr Angelica Ronald (first supervisor) and Dr Emma Meaburn (second supervisor).  Wikus has a first class BSc in Psychology from Birkbeck and an MSc from King’s College London in Early Intervention in Psychosis where he graduated top of his class​. In addition to his academic background in psychosis, he has eight years of clinical experience in the addiction sector as a practitioner and manager at substance misuse treatment services in London. His interests lie in clinical psychology, behavioural genetics, biostatistics and translational research. His PhD will focus on environmental risk factors involved in psychotic experiences during adolescence.
