Autumn 2012

Dr Sania Shakoor joins the GEL lab

The GEL lab is pleased to welcome a new member, Dr Sania Shakoor.

Sania is a postdoctoral researcher, who recently completed her PhD at the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London. She will be working on the Longitudinal Experiences and Perceptions (LEAP) project. This Medical Research Council-funded project is led by Dr Angelica Ronald, and supported by a team of collaborators from across the UK. The LEAP project aims to add to our understanding of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

Three GEL students complete their MSc

Congratulations to Dominika Sieradzka, Camilla Nguyen, and Zayba Ghazali, who have all recently completed their MSc projects at the GEL lab!

Dominika Sieradzka will continue to work with Dr Angelica Ronald at the GEL lab as an ESRC-funded PhD student. Her thesis will investigate the aetiology of psychotic experiences in adolescence.

Zayba Ghazali is now a PhD student at the Institute of Education, where she is supervised by Prof Andy Tolmie. She is investigating the acquisition of simple and complex concepts in the domain of naive biology.

Camilla Nguyen finished her MSc in Psychological Research Methods with a Distinction. She is now working as an assistant psychologist at KCA New Thoughts’ psychological therapy service, based in the community and at GP practices.
