BRIDGE Lab

The GEL lab’s molecular biology facility for genomic research was founded in 2015.  The Birkbeck Research Into Developmental GEnomics (BRIDGE) lab is based at Birkbeck, directed by Dr Emma Meaburn and codirected by Professor Angelica Ronald.

Resources for Birkbeck researchers and collaborators:

  • Biobanking facilities for the long-term storage of human DNA and RNA samples
  • Equipment and expertise for the extraction of DNA and RNA material from buccal, saliva and whole blood samples
  • Quantification of DNA and RNA samples
  • Low-throughput genotyping
  • Preparation of DNA and RNA samples for high-resolution genomic experiments (e.g., DNA microarrays and sequencing libraries)

Equipment:

  • BioWizard Silver SL-130 Blue Series Class II Safety Cabinet
  • Telstar U570 Upright Ultra Low Freezer (-80)
  • Liebherr Fridge (-4)
  • Liebherr Freezer (-20)
  • Miele Laboratory Glass Washer
  • PureWater Water Purification System
